The Area Director of Resident Care provides multi-community clinical leadership and support across the Indiana market. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of quality management systems, clinical standards, and educational initiatives within assigned communities.

Serving as a traveling clinical partner, the Area Director of Resident Care ensures consistent adherence to state and federal regulations, supports communities through surveys and compliance reviews, and partners with Executive Directors and clinical leaders to drive operational excellence, risk mitigation, and high-quality resident outcomes.

This position plays a critical role in stabilizing, mentoring, and strengthening community-based clinical teams while promoting consistency in care delivery across the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements policies and procedures for Clinical Services in company communities. Monitors achievement of goals and objectives for the community clinical services departments consistent with established philosophy and standards of practice
  • Monitors the implementation of current policies and procedures, which reflect adherence to corporate and external regulatory guidelines. Reviews new regulatory directives and implements changes as needed
  • Monitors Quality Improvement Process, Standards of Care, Weekly Wound Reports, etc. and reports them to the VP of Operations
  • Reviews and instigates resident complaints/Hotline Complaints as directed by the VP of Operations. Ensures compliance with resident rights policies and works to resolve resident grievances
  • Conducts compliance surveys at communities. Assist in coordinating actions plans to minimize liability and risks as a result of compliance surveys
  • Participates in State and Federal surveys and compliance investigations
  • Supports and follows up with communities in identifying trends and assists in the development of corrective action plans and troubleshooting resolutions. Reports findings of State and Federal surveys to the VP of Operations and Regional Operations Leader.
  • Gathers performance improvements indicators and survey data to identify trends. Develops Plans of Corrective Actions with the Regional Operations Leader, Executive Directors and Director of Health and Wellness. 
  • Schedules periodic site visits to provide supervision, clinical expertise, ensure communication, and to monitor the overall operation the clinical services department. Conducts facility reviews based on operational needs, changes in management and commitment to regulatory compliance
  • Reviews all potential move-outs due to level of care concerns prior to any notifications provided.  Reviews all potential move-in denials prior to any communication with prospective resident or family member
  • Provide in-service training and orientation to community staff regarding survey process, risk management, corporate compliance, performance improvement, etc. 
  • Attendance required at all meetings at the discretion of your Manager or Regional Supervisor 
  • Must be computer literate, excellent working knowledge of all pertinent software
  • Responsible for timely information reporting 
  • Must stay in compliance with all state, federal, and government agencies

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • May be requested to serve as temporary Interim Director of Health and Wellness

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides supervision and guidance to community administrators and Director of Nursing staff and others as assigned to assure delivery of consistently high quality care to residents. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications: 

  • Maintains current state license as a Professional Registered Nurse per state regulations
  • Experience in assisted living, home health or long term care industries
  • Ten (10) years’ experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse
  • Five (5) year nursing management experience
